This tri-tone colorway of White, Varsity Red, and Black was first seen on an AJ12 during Michael Jordan’s 1996-1997 NBA season. The Jordan 12 Retro Cherry (GS) (2023) finds inspiration in the original shoe, as well as a similar AJ12 model released in 2009. Like others before it, the 2023 iteration features lizard skin-textured overlays in Varsity Red that fortify the white, leather upper. The sneaker boasts a full-length Zoom Air unit as well as a Phylon midsole. The semi-translucent outsole reveals herringbone designs and tread in a similar pattern.
Something our experts love about this sneaker is the minimal branding. The shoe comes with the Jumpman logo on the tongue and outsole, and a Jordan pull tab on the heel, but it does not display the Swoosh.
